Sampling Still Dreaming

I found a sample! And, funnily enough, it’s from one of my favourite tracks at the moment:

The drums, bass and keys all suit one of my songs, Her Eyes on Me. I couldn’t find the stems anywhere but I’ve snagged the intro from youtube and put in Logic. I’ve had to speed it up to 2x as fast. I did this by setting the tempo as I wanted it (150bpm) and then apply project tempo to region and downbeat. I’ve also mirrored the drums in a software instrument and tried to find some similar but bit more subtle synth/keyboard instrument to play the chords. Not sure if I’ll save the original sample for a bridge/chorus or have it playing all the way through yet. Here is the sample, drums and synth:

And then next go round I sang the keyboard riff and recorded it just with my iPhone. I then duplicated the track twice and sent one to helium sound present, another to monster and the last one to robot. I also worked on the drums a bit more, chose a couple more subtle sounds to make it more groovy and less heavy. I’m enjoying how this is coming along! Time to record vocals soon.

But first, I need to set it out in the structure of the song so it’s easy to record to. For this I will write a chord chart and then make some sections with the content I already have in the DAW.
